Guitar-players , Mechanics & OCC !?

When i picked up my first wrenches, ( agghhh, realizing now that's almost 40 years ago !) .
There was no Discovery channel, or something similar.
So for my information , i plowed faithfully
thru my monthly holy biker magazine " Easyriders ".
Pickin'up tech tips & idea's, among all other tips & idea's ya might expect from a biker magazine.
Made my mother (not so) happy, since my english/american vocabulary broadened a lot !
Ya fuckin' dig it, ? ;-)
Yeah, Easyriders was my, Discovery, National Geographic,
XXX-channel, miraculous mutha, all in one magazine.
( yeah, in the 70's it was a real magazine !).

Yep, think it was somekind of a religion.
Later on I met some of the people that had exposure thru "Easyriders".
Marion Owens, George Smith (junior), Perry Sands,
Jerry Branch, a.m.o. Yep in New York, even that crazy " Indian Larry"!
Everyone made his name, starting young, thru trail and error.
Eventually creating something, admirable !

It's just like guitarplayers, start at a young age,
practice every day several hours, trial and error.
Work for god , a dime, and glory !
And eventually after 10 years, ya got something to play !
It's not pitch perfect yet, but ya getting there.

So? Don't re-invent the wheel !
Want something nice ? Ya gonna pay either way !

The hard way, or the easy way. Period !

I love CASH ( Johnny?)

'bout 15 years ago on a saturday morning,
i packed a few clothes, a sleeping bag and some CASH.
Hopped on my bike, and took off to Spain.
My restpoints were gas(petrol)stations, and the péage !
That french interstate tollbooth,
was a menace for à lot of " caged suits ".
I paid everything CASH !

Man, i didn't know car horns had soooo many different tunes,
            HA, HA, HA , ........

And from then on, paid every booth,
with the exact amount of money, to the penny, CASH !
From that moment, i knew CASH money
was going to be my protest to the establishment,
that wants to control the masses !

Must had an Jules Verne vision,
since that trip it had become worse and worse.
I want control over my own life, so i try to pay CASH as much as possible.

Another great visionair was ;
CASH JOHNNY !
Tell'em JOHNNY !

Ha ; will take my breakerpoint shovelhead, for a spin. Suckers can't track me down either, will leave my cellphone , at home.
And stack some cash, for beer and gas ! Happee trailing !
Talk to ya next week, ..

OLD SCHOOL !?

What makes a bike old school, a bobber.
Clean and simple answer !
Take any (!) stock bike, and an electric grinder/ hacksaw.
Try to cut off, as much as possible.
Still make sure ya can ride it
and don't give a shit 'bout reliabilty and ya done !

Why ?
After ww2 , US soldiers came back
from an terrible nerve-racking war.
Now being an citizen , they were "BORED" big time !
Back then, anybody not in an 3 piece suit, was an threat to society.
So they were to be avoided.
( hey, i'am getting here in the jeans and t-shirt history!)
For the thrill, men began racing motorcycles.
There were "no ready" available, go fast parts.
So you want to go faster then THE other guy don't ya ?
Then cut off all that extra weight, and make sure ya get there first.
Taking life-threatening risks ( got to get that adrenaline flowing !).
Afterwards celebrate w. ya friends,
"YEAH ! " ya did beat "death" again !
That's what somewhat happened in hollister '47.
So people w. their nice leak proof, motorcycles,
and their 3 piece m/c suit.  Calling their bikes
old school or bobber, it is à look à like !
     Nothing wrong with that !
But hè if you want the old school thrill,
ya should take the old school risk as well,
without minding some oil on your shoes/pants.
Well i've done my share of oily boots & pants,
i've been there more then once !

I'am a guy that started his first motorcycling
experiences at the late '70's.
Yep i was thrown into the chopper era,
with an teenage budget !
Ha ha, that budget got me more a bobber, . . .
. . . then the chopper i wished for !

                                              See ya next week !

The famous 4th. of july Hollister picture.
Do you recognise the striped bobber bikes ?
An Harley knucklehead & a Norton single ;-)
Wonder if the Norton, was filling the picture first instead of the Harley. Would've the Norton factories survived ?

Bloggen ?

Blogging , a media to express yourself.
It's more or less some kind of a magazine.
And boy do i've idea's for this !
Well bear with me and see where this will get you, and you !
This blogging stuff is going to be a kind trial and error.
The stuff i'll bring to ya is going to be mechanic motorcycle related,
and all that's more or less related to it.
Mechanical problems frustrations and solutions,
spiced w. rockabilly music, beer and woman and more !
Like more or less, that button i had when i lived in Daytona back in '88.
" I'am here for , Bikes, Boobs & Beer ! "
